Brian L. McGowan
Brian joined the Center for Postsecondary Research in July 2009. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Old Dominion University and his master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The Ohio State University. Brian’s background is primarily in residence life with supplemental experiences in career services and orientation.
In his previous role, he served as a Residence Life Coordinator and Assistant to the Senior Dean of Students at Rutgers University. In addition to Brian’s administrative responsibilities, he served as an instructor for several undergraduate courses through the School of Education and Arts and Sciences, respectively. Furthermore, he has conducted research on issues related to transfer student populations, residence life and housing, male identity development, and social justice.
Job Responsibilities
- Client services for institutions F-Ni.
Research Interests
Student engagement for traditional and non-traditional populations, leadership development, first generation students, and access and retention initiatives for students of color.
